If you don't know these designers by now, then get familiar. The Blonds are currently house hold names in the fashion industry and their spiky, dazzling designs are customary chic. For those of you who haven't seen Sex and the City 2 this is not a review but what I am going to say is this; despite the mixed reviews, if you're reading this post then you should go to see the movie. Who cares if critics are raving about the story line? We've seen season upon seasons of this polished upscale New York City life, estranged relationships, gay/ straight sex scenes and we've all been yearning for the fireworks between Carrie and Mr Big, it happened. The materialism aka the fashion has a huge part to play in the success of Sex and The City and it was undeniably well executed. Kudos to Patricia Fields (wardrobe designer) and her team. Sparky harem pants, louboutins, vintage trains/ turbans? SATC2 is a fashionistas fairytale worth seeing. So in the film the four girlfriends went away to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and if you look below Samantha is wearing a red dress with a plunging neckline as well as the signature statement spiky shoulder made by Phillipe and David designers of the "The Blonds". I had the pleasure of working The Ecco Domani show last season where this designer's work was featured and I must say his runway pieces weigh tons! Very glamourous eye candy.Monday, May 31, 2010

Chic Pick: "Signature" by Sue Tsai Rings
There's nothing like spotting a vintage inspired cocktail ring that's really hard to find drawing countless compliments. Thats how exclusive I try to shop for rings because if you're an avid reader of this blog you would know that this accessory holds a special place in my heart. No seriously... Not too long ago The Chic Report featured an amazingly talented jewelry designer Sue Tsai where she introduced her new collection "Signature" by Sue Tsai. Well her new line launched on May 4th (Im still so sad about not attending to cover the launch party) and the line is readily available. As I looked through the pics of her new collection I was blown away by the pieces. The rings stole my heart as per usual. These are a few pieces (amongst MANY) that I would like to own almost immediately.

Look of The Week: Janet Jackson
I usually get "Look of the Week/Day" posts in on Wednesdays but I couldnt not start the blogging week off without acknowldging how fabulous and chic Janet Jackson appeared on the red carpet at the London premier of Why Did I Get Married Too. Not only did she had the style savvy taking fashion pointers, she also debuted her new short hair do which had the internet a buzz the following day. Janet looks effortless with this look and for that she deserves The Chic Report's celeb "Look Of The Week" ...
The excessive draping in this ensemble accents her curves. Beautiful silhouette, perfect hue for Janet's fresh new look. I love it.
CHIC PICK: The Abstract Scarf / Pashmina
I've always been a sucka for a bright patterned pashmina during the Spring/ Summer and Fall. I cant live without them. A scarf can do so many things to uplift or transform a simple sophisticated look. So you want the ultimate "look du jour" and accessories are one of you main options. However, you would like to accomplish the look without the use of chunky necklaces, chains, crystals or beads then a patterned pashmina is the way to go. The best thing about this staple is that you have a variety of options depending on your style. Fringe, floral, tribal / digital prints or a solid hue are my favorite options. Basic boyfriend cut jeans, sandals, a v neck white tee and a bright patterned pashmina would be the ultimate "look du jour".I really love the fringed scarf below. Not only is it bold and bright it completes the look from head to toe. H and M is home of the abstract pashmina/scarf.

Celebs spotted wearing abstract scarfs.
Sarah Jessica Parker in bright pink scarf. I love how she played risky with her outfit. Each piece plays a different role in color that way the scarf falls right in place.

Hilary Duff has an exceptional sense of style which I love. This dark floral scarf is a must have.

Zoe Saldana brings it down a notch with a small/thinner yet outlandish version of the "it" scarf. I really love how it accents her outfit as well as her nude makeup.

How do you feel about the abstract scarf/pashmina as a key wardrobe staple? How many do you own? These are just a few I found while writing this post... trust me I doubt its even half. lol I get one everytime I go shopping, let me rephrase everytime I enter a store. (Sorry for my horrible display).

Kelly Cutrone's "If you have to cry GO OUTSIDE...And other things your mother never told you..."

Fall collections 2009 my first fashion week ever working behind the scenes. Train traffic is seriously driving my nerves in full gear. I've seen The Hills, now I'm about to go to work for the same PR extraordinaire who made Lauren Conrad cry and would tell you like it is in an instant without hesitating. Here I'm I all decked in black, Chanel inspired clutch on my side (ALDO), 4 inch heels, black on black ensemble with golden bedazzling accessories, and the most stylish pair of stockings from American Apparel. The Davidelfin / Peoples Revolution show was one of my first shows at the NY Fashion Week tents. Blackberry in hand and a piece of paper with an off sight address the other, hair bouncing from my fresh blow out. I felt like the ultimate NYC Fashion chick. It was all happening I felt great except my nerves were uncontrollable. The venue must have been at an atelier between 11th and 12 ave there was no way I'd make it in these heels plus my new Steve Madden's were not for running. Hopped on what had to be the best cab driver in the city who considerately dashed across the avenues so I can make my call time. Its 1:53 made it to the venue and now I'm collecting my credentials... Thank God!!! This could have been the beginning and the end of my fashion career but I made call time!!! I'm a nervous wreck but its time to get it together, I'm ready to work with the Peoples Rev team front of house getting directions from miss Kelly Cutrone herself and although I'm attentive I kept saying in the back of my mind. "I like her! She's not mean...she has the mind of a business woman". Her drive was unbelievable! When she spoke directly at me for sitting directions as inspiration showered me. Go on Kelly you have a show to produce! Fast forward to January 2010 walking in to my Fashion PR and Events Planning class and Kelly Cutrone "Kell On Earth" was the main discussion every Tuesday, that's when I decided I'd give this book a read. I started reading yesterday and I must say this is a GREAT book. I wont give anything away until my official book review (as soon as I'm done reading). Until then find yourself at the nearest book store and pick up a copy. She has a story to tell!

Look Of The Day: Chanel Iman
Happy Monday Readers, I'm back with another "Look Of The Day". I'm changing things up a little since I've only given you my favorite celeb looks. Chanel Iman (my favorite model by the way) was recently featured in Vogue China for a beautiful high fashion spread. We all know Chanel is a familiar face of the Vogue pages but with this spread we see a more sophisticated Chanel. Less glam more chic! Thats what I like to call it, although the two goes hand in hand. I love the familar colors in this ensemble...When June Ambrose created "Effortless Style" this is probably what she had in mind. With the current humid temperatures style addicts have done a closet overload with loose/free staples. Chanel looks so CHIC in this shot... "The Chic Report" approves.
Check out Chanel Iman in Vogue China. She will also be doing a meet and greet tomorrow 12noon - 1pm at the Victoria Secret in SOHO.

Happy Mothers Day
How sweet and kind a mother is, how gentle and how wise.
We simply take for granted from day to passing day each sacrifice she makes for us in her own loving way.
And then we grow and finally learn the way that children do,
how much her love has really meant,
how thoughtful she has been to.
and so this comes with all the thanks that you deserve and more.
For there is not a dearer mother than the one this greeting is for.
Happy Mothers Day to all The Chic Report readers that are Moms or Moms to be!

The City: Fashion and Fun!!!

"Give me them bright lights long nights!!! Party till the sun is Rising"...
When Whitney Port first decided to leave The Hills it didn't phase me much. I mean we never got to see her personal side on the show, it was always at dinner or at work for Whit so I really didn't think I'd miss her much. It wasn't until the following season I felt the brunt of missing Whitney on the show. She was always the focused one, goal oriented and smart and quiet the most decent side kick Lauren Conrad ever had (well, at least on the show). As much as I missed Whitney on The Hills I wasnt to fond of the whole idea of "The City". What could the Whitney we all knew from "The Hills" bring to the screen for a highly rated show? Neitherless I really got into the first season and started liking the show. (Note to self: Add one more show to my "To Watch" list). Now we're on season 3 and avid followers like myself must admit that we cant get enough of The City clan. Okay maybe I'm a little over Olivia shady ways, but her sense of style wins over everything. Finally theres a reality show on tv that I can relate to. An inside scoop on the fashion industry...stuff you can't learn in school but through experience is on a tv screen. Ok... ok... Blah Blah Blah! Did you see the season premier last week? "The fashions" were so exciting... Whitney's style has elevated since her tv debut, I couldnt help but gush over every sense. And Olivia's style is just impeccable.
Olivia Palermo (Elle Accessories Editor)
I've created this set for anyone trying to incoperate Olivia and Whitney's style to their daily wardrobe. Hope this serves as inspiration for you to look your best! Whitney is best known for her comfortable pastel staples and Olivia is more glam.Hope you enjoy this post!

Boyfriend Chic: Chanel Iman and Alexa Chung
Among all the gowns and frocks you know there will be show stopping boyfriend inspired one pieces and tuxedo's walking the red stairs to the Mets Costume Institute Gala lastnight. Chanel Iman wore a metalic jump suit by Michael Kors with chain detaling adding glam extras. I must admit that Chanel is dazzling in her rich metalic ensemble.
Chanel Iman in Michael Kors.
Best Dressed: Met Costume Institute Gala
The stars were out last night on the biggest fashion red carpet event of the year....The Mets Costume Institute Gala were the dresses went from " glow in the dark" (Katy Perry) literally, to overlapping robes (Andre Leon Talley and Woopi Goldberg). So I know these are the same pics and commentary on every blog and magazine site so I will keep this post short and precised. These are my favorite looks in the gown category.
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad Couture.
Kerry Washington in Thakoon.
Eva Mendez in Dolce and Gabbana

Joy Bryant in Marchesa

Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs

Blake Lively in Marchesa

Kerry Washington at Lucille Awards
Hey Chic Fam,So if you follow me on twitter (www.twitter.com/CJay282) you should have seen my tweets and commentary live at the Lucille Awards on Sunday. I twitpic'd and gushed over a hug by one of the most influenctial Hollywood stars Kerry Washington. She's so sweet and funny! I love her even more after meeting her on Sunday during the VIP Party at Terminal 5. During the award show Kerry who was also a presenter sat at a same table next to Olsen twin Ashley and boo. Ofcourse, when she approached me I had to take a second look at her outfit. I thought it was brilliant how she paired tan staples in different hues from head to toe. I love it! Simple yet so Chic! The best thing about this look is that the clothes spoke for itself. No accessory compliments. Well executed Kerry. What do you think?
Ive created a set inspired by Kerry's tanned ensemble so maybe you could try the look.
Hope you enjoy this post!

Chic Pick: Steve Madden Clog

I thought it would be fun to add a few chic picks every Tuesday where The Chic Report's readers could see whats on my style radar and the buzz on the must have trends. Models, celebs and fashionistas alike can't get enough of the "all nude everything" this spring. The head to toe nude trend will not be completely edged out if not paired with the ultimate "it" shoe. I remember my early teenage years wearing clogs clearly owning about six pairs. I LOVED THEM!( I would get a pair of plain clogs and bedazzle the clear canvas with rhinestones). Well you know in this style era everything ancient is new...revamped and trending again. My Chic Pick for the week is this Steve Madden (DAYNTY) clog that I absolutely love. The fun details like the gommettes and studs sides gives the shoe a more flirty new twist. Any thoughts on this pick? Comment below. Let me know...
Retails for $99.95 online and at Steve Madden stores.

Chic Beauty Pick: MAC Loose Golden Bronzer

I'm very particular with what types makeup I use and I absolutely love M.A.C products. I watched a tutorial online recently and one of the products the makeup artist used to add her finishing touches to the model was this golden loose bronzer from MAC ... With the results of the before and after shoots I headed to the MAC Counter at Macy's the next day to get the product. A simple yet sultry golden freshness is what I saw after applying this bronzer lightly to all the spots where the sun naturally shines, the forehead, nose, cheeks etc. Bronzer is a must have in any makeup kit regardless of the brand, texture, or color. This particular bronzer brings out a warm natural glow to your skin and its important that you apply it adequately. With the right short fluffy brush from your collection apply light powder blowing off excess powder. Too much bronzer applied to the face will leave you looking extra shiny, too golden therefore it wont match your skin tone. If you're looking for products to add to your makeup kit then give the MAC GOLDEN LOOSE BRONZER a try. You will love it!
Retails at $22.00 at MAC stores/ counters and online.
Chic Pick: Milly by Michelle Smith Trench

My favorite season has crept up upon me and I have to say that I am definitely unprepared style wise. With the preparation of my vacation (reason why I haven't been posting) in the tropics I've forgotten all about the gorgeous Spring climate. Now that I'm back it has just hit me that my Spring selection is extremely low. During a moderately 70 degree week in NYC its important that you dress stylishly and appropriately executing the "it" trend flawlessly. I've always been an advocate for wearing trenches, but for the "fashionista on a budget" its difficult to own that famous Burberry Poseum trench. The trench always revamps itself season after season but with the military trend at its bloom it gives this staple its stamp of approval. Its a cute versatile piece that can be worn formally when paired with boots or heels or throw on flats and comfortable shoes for a more casual look. Milly by Michelle Smith sent one of her models down the Fall 2010 runway wearing a Burberry inspired trench which I think is so rich because of its unusual deep hue. The ultimate Chic Pick for the week.

Look Of The Day: Ciara
Happy Easter Eve everyone! Hope you had a very blessed Good Friday. While everyone is about to face their holiday weekend in this glorious weather of NYC you cant be anything but cute, simple and chic in your ensembles. So maybe I was bias when it came to picking the "Look of The Day/Week" because of the great weather that we're having and most importantly because I'm leaving for my vacation in a few hours. If you've been following this blog for a while or even though you're a new comer my picks for Look of the Day is always very simple and unique. Theybf.com posted a picture of Ciara walking around LA with a really cute outfit which I love. Plaid button down with white tank, distressed boyfriend jeans paired with cute pair of hightop sandals and black studded pocket book adding edge to a casual ensemble. I really love those sandals! What do you think?
