Chic Pick: The Blonds Spring 2011

Last on the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week roaster but certainly not least. I had the privilege of working with The Blonds team for their Spring 2011 show and let me just say mission well executed. A fun and exciting show is always my NYFW icing on the cake! So with the tornado at its peak and pouring rain in the NYC streets I made my way to Milk Studios in the Meat Packing District (directly across the DVF store) to work The Blonds. This post may be somewhat biased but I'm pretty sure that you would agree with me when I say that these corsets are too die for! Here is The Chic Report's long overdue "Chic Pick" post. Jewels, sequins, pearls are just a few gommettes used to create a dazzling embellished pieces as seen in the photos.

D.I.Y P.S- I made this... Denim Messenger Bag

I may not be able to ditch all of my unhealthy obsessions with you but what I will share is my love for the best D.I.Y site to hit the web  PS I Made This . The ladies of Fashionista sat with Erica Domesek to create a crafty messenger bag of denim shorts... What the video

Earth Tone Hues For Fall

I'm a firm believer in translating summer to fall pieces. After going all out to get the best trendy staples this summer it would be heart wrenching to see them all go to the bottom of storage. As much as I believer in making your pieces work all year round, I also stand by revamping and freshening your look as the seasons change. This summer it was all about the floral, digital prints, bright geometric patterns, bold colors so as we slowly sip into the mood of fall I'm creating a new wardrobe.

January is when we make all our new years resolutions of what we should accomplish in the upcoming year, we sometimes tend to change our image whether is style or beauty but in Vogue's September Issue Documentary it was made official that September is the fashion's new year. So while you go back to school, back to work, back to wearing those lace up boots and cashmere pieces let's incorporate in little trendy pattern. Earth tone hues can help with this transition.

This JCrew model is wearing a full earth tone ensemble. Khaki jacket mixed with the different ground shades of brown and grey makes it even more fun...

Front Row At New York Fashion Week

Ever asked yourself what does it take to sit front row at Mercedez Benz Fashion Week? Although I may not know the complete answer to this I know one: star power. Kelly Cutrone made it very clear that if you're not seated in the first three rows at the tents then you're literally a "nobody" but is that really true? After reading" If You Have To Cry", watching "Kell On Earth" and of course "The City" religiously I've gained so much knowledge from this PR extraordinaire but I really don't see anybody beyond third row a "nobody". In my opinion it's a privilege to even get standing. For those of you who aren't familiar with fashion show seating's, "standing" is basically the people in the backdrop....standing. Of course, buyers and celebrities, get front row seats because they're basically the ones who can make or break a collection in this day and age. But is it overrated to score a front row seat? Immediate access to the collections on the web and backstage access to attendees have made it easier for the media to get an up close and personal view of the collection so is it really forth seeing front row? I would love to score a front row seat at a show, and of course predict Anna Wintour's "It" pieces for Vogue just  by her expressions. We're on to the 7th day of New York Fashion Week where celebs and the "whose-who" in the fashion industry have been spotted in front row.
Angela Simmons front row at Betsey Johnson
Kelly Rowland front row at BCBG
Kanye West graced front row at Rodarte
Kristin Cavallari also graced front row at Badgley Mishka.
Olivia Palermo front row at Monique Lhuillier
Gabriel union front row at Tracy Reese
The Chic Notebook will be front row one day!

MTV White Carpet Fashion

I was bored by the MTV awards this year and I'm sure I am not the only one who felt like last year's MTV Music Awards were way better. As much as the performers bored me I must say I kept an eye out for the best dressed fashionistas and Ashley Greene, Katy Perry, Ciara and of course Lady Gaga were a few of my favorite. Going back to the actual show, I was rooting for Chelsea Handler to knock this gig out the park, I expected a star studded performance roaster and I would appreciate Taylor a little more if she had shoes on and gave me a different rhythm. boring. Ok, no shots at Taylor. MTV gets A+ for production with the magical stage set up and icy white carpets.

Ciara's wardrobe may be all "Givenchied" out but she always delivers; and as for Lady Gaga in Alexander Mc Queen? No words. Love!

Fall Trend Alert: Tweed Jackets

This Queen Elizabeth inspired should occupy a hanger or two from your fall closet. Rachel Zoe orgasms over her packages from Chanel with multiple tweed jackets on the season premier of TRZ Project, but we can do the same on a basic budget.

Beauty Report 101: How To Get The Look

Its Fall, well not officially especially not with this humid climate it isn't. Well we at The Chic-Report would like to think so since in a few hours designers and makeup guru's will be revealing the "it" fashion and beauty trends for the Spring on the runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Move over summer it's time to give Fall its reign. Stylistically speaking, we're all looking for ways incorporate our bright summer staples into the fall, and frugal shoppers would tell you that your face could help you acquire the look du jour. Perhaps you're the Kelly Cutrone of fashion, it's always all black everything or dark on dark ensembles, that is quite okay because we have a tip that will work for you.  There is something about a bright lip and a soft eye that I can't seem to get enough of. Perhaps its the play on a vibrant hue contrasting neatly brisked lashes? Among the many beauty trends this fall, the soft flirtatious pink lip has some how revamped and this time better than ever. The Hills star Lo Bosworth walked the red carpet at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards with a gorgeous statement lip. Read on and learn how to get Lo's look...

Fall Trend: Leopard Print

Who would ever thought that this animal inspired trend would resurrect from the pits of the tragic spring/ summer stampede of bold , digital, mixed, flourished prints and patterns to a must have trendy piece this fall?  With a hint of jungle fever and a tint of tan, camel and mud hues designers tapped into their animal instincts through an array of designs and texture. Whether it is the faux wildlife fur, classic spotted silhouettes or a menagerie inspired jewels you cannot go wrong with animal print this season. Chic savvy celebs and guru risk takers Rihanna and Willow Smith made this trend red carpet as well as cat walk meets sidewalk cool. Oh! And who said you can’t wear animal on animal? Follow their lead, if you are in the mood to layer a zebra on a tiger pattern then go for it. The Chic-Report recommends atleast one solid staple or embellished piece to execute an edgy flawless look. This fall Dolce and Gabbana, Mochsinco and Balmain breathed life into the hottest animal inspired separates. Go for the wild!

Style Inspiration for Labor Day Weekend.

We're approaching another long holiday weekend. Another official stamp that the days of summer are slowly winding down and with back to school, work and all other "to-do's", this may be the last time we get to wear a fully fledged summer outfit. After all we can still mix our summer pieces with a few fall stamples. Sanaa Lathan (one of my favorite actresses by the way) was spotted in LA and although she's wearing the simplest pieces they're also cute and comfortable and ofcourse on trend.

September Issues 2.0

The September Issue... no, not the movie. Although I really enjoyed this Vogue and Anna Wintour documentary and embraced the wit of Grace Coddington, I'm talking about the issues, THE September issues. It's a new year in the fashion world and if that's not a valid excuse to why magazines are so damn bulky and full of excitment then I don't know what is. A few weeks ago gigantic magazine issues hit the newstands and for those lucky enough to have a subscription, your mail box. It's like an early Christmas present but this one got a little extra attention. Caressing the pages for no slips, creases or tears may sound as if I'm taking it way too far but you have no idea. Let's not talk about the anticipation to find out which celebrity is covering the biggest issue of the year. High end ads, trends, interviews, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, politics, home decor never looked so good. So now that October issues are about to hit the stands I would love to know what was your favorite September magazine Issue. I really enjoyed the Vogue's , Nylon and ofcourse Marie Claire. I would love to hear from you guys....

Which reminds me: Fashion Night Out September 10th 2010.
